Two people, Emma & Adam who are acquaintances at best, only meeting three times over the past 15 years, decide a friends with benefits relationship is right for them. The first time they meet was at camp as teenagers, the second at a frat party in college, and a third time in LA at the local Farmers market. The first two were during major moments in their lives and the third turns out to be just a strange awkward encounter for them both but mainly for adam (Ashton Kutcher). Emma (Natalie Portman) is a Med student with no time for relationships and Adam is a tv Producer who has a few dating quirks of his own.
I remember seeing previews for this movie and thinking the two were best of friends and thinking this is just going to be an awkward adaption of the scene from Y.P.F., but as it turns out neither of these assumptions are true. They aren't best friends and the sex between them is far from being awkward. Portman and Kutcher seem to have a real chemistry on film and that shines through to emma and adam. They are a very believable though unorthodox couple. Being a romantic comedy it was obvious that one of them would have to break the no strings attached, friends with benefits agreement that they have, and fall in love. With that being expected anyway there are no real twists in the movie but there sure are some good laughs to be had.
If you and your significant other are looking for a fun movie that you will both enjoy then give this one a shot, you won't be disappointed as long as you like romantic comedies and know what to expect from a movie of that genre.
