[REC] Everything, It'll make for one hell of a show!

[REC] is a multi-award winning found footage film by Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza. The film was made in 2007 and was filmed in an actual apartment building in Spain. Now I have heard a lot about this film and have been wanting to see it for quite some time now. It was definitely worth the wait and honestly [REC] is the type of movie you wish you never saw just so you can get the feeling of watching it for the first time again. It truly is just that good.

Synopsis:
We follow reporter Angela & her camera man Pablo as they are filming for a program called "While you were Sleeping" and it just so happens that this weeks episode covers the night shift at the local fire station. They follow a team of firefighters to an apartment building after they recieve a call that an elderly lady is trapped in her apartment. When they arrive the other tenants are all in the lobby and whatever is going on in the apartment upstairs is just the beginning of the hellish nightmare that none of them will soon forget.

I have to say that the first half of the film is fairly slow but that is okay because it helps build the story and the characters, which any good film does. This makes the last half of the film work even more because you actually are interested in the characters. A lot of horror movies these days don't seem to understand this, and you never care if the characters live or die. [REC] builds up the characters and makes you understand why they keep recording even though all of this insane stuff is going on, and that is a must for any found footage film.

The film slowly builds the tension for some intense scares and a chaotic atmosphere that will surely keep you glued to your seat. If you are not a fan of found footage films, I still recommend giving this one a chance, you may chage your mind.

I hate spoilers so I try to keep them to a minimum and this review is no different. I could go on and on about how amazing this film is and telly you everything about it but honestly if you're not already interested in the movie after what I have wrote here, then I am not going to convince you that this film is worth watching no matter how much I talk about it. All I can say is buy it and watch it.

4 stars out of 5. The only reason for the 4 is that some scenes are a bit too chaotic with the camera and hard to see, but that is too be expected from any found footage film.
